Venture Beyond

Outside Stories, Outside The Ordinary—the outdoor space is brimming with inspirational films that quicken your pulse and keep you on the edge of your seat. It's exactly what nature enthusiasts like us yearn for; it's what we all desire.

At Backcountry, we’re surrounded by athletes and individuals that consistently make us say “wow”. So, we got a camera in front of them and pressed record. Here are a few of the stories my team and I have been a part of.

Pacing the Pacific

Breaking the Pacific Crest Trail’s fastest record

About the project:
Karel Sabbe isn't your typical dentist. In between fillings and cappings, he's an ultra runner. We teamed up with On Running to capture Karel's epic attempt to secure the Pacific Crest Trail's fastest known time. Spoiler alert: he absolutely crushed it. I'd love to share more, but I don’t want to give away everything—in any case, you get the idea.

The film received great reception. It garnered over 200k views in two weeks, we had a live premier that instantly sold out, and plan to do another live event with Karel himself.

My Part:
I had a significant role in the documentary itself. I named the film, named chapters, and edited the credits. The film also had a full-comms distribution including social posts, emails, landing pages, and more.

Mind the Gap

Nils Mindnich Takes On Chad’s Gap

About the project:
If you build it, they will come—it’s up for debate if the old adage holds any truth or not, but what is certain is the snow sports version: if there’s a gap, it’ll be jumped. Watch professional snowboarder and Backcountry podcast host, Nils Mindnich, turn into a powder pilot as he soars across the iconic 120-foot Chad’s Gap in Utah’s Little Cottonwood Canyon.

My Part:
Similar to Pacing the Pacific, I named the film and wrote a full communication distribution including social posts, emails, landing pages, and more.

Taming the Wolverine

16 Lines. 10K Vert. 10 Hours.

About the project:
16 Lines. 10K Vert. 10 Hours. That’s how John Michael Fabrizi, and Backcountry’s Alex Quitiquit and Cam Price tackled The Wasatch’s Wolverine Cirque this winter. Inspired by skiers who’ve dropped these couloirs before, these guys set out to prove that you don’t have to be a pro to achieve the incredible.

My Part:
Yep, you guessed it. I named the film, wrote all the words that appear on-screen, and wrote a shmorgishborg of comm assets.

We’re always looking for the next story to share. Meaning, we’re dropping films all the time. See here for the latest.
